Nicola Howarth
Solicitor
Nicola completed an LLB and BA (Film and Media Studies) at the University of Otago in 2008 and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in October 2009. She previously worked at Parker & Associates as a law clerk during summer 2007 and then joined us permanently in May 2009.
Since working at Parker & Associates Nicola has been primarily involved in construction disputes including leaky building claims. She has also assisted on contractual and property disputes, subrogated insurance actions, as well as employment litigation. This work as involved:
- Assisting in restructuring and personal grievance disputes, as well as general employment advice.
- Assisting in delivering a presentation to the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand on topical employment law issues.
- Providing advice under the Official Information Act.
- Advising on general contractual disputes involving cancellation of contract and misrepresentation;
- Advising on property disputes involving breach of vendor warranties;
- Subrogated recovery actions and indemnity advice including negligence and advice under the Consumer Guarantees Act;
- Advising in leaky building litigation and construction matters involving multiple owners, construction companies, liquidators, local authorities, engineers, architects, manufacturers and others.
