Amy Davison Senior Associate

Amy completed an LLB and a BA in Theatre Studies/English at the University of Otago in 2007.  She was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in September 2008 and worked in Auckland before joining Parker & Associates in June 2012.

Amy specialises in commercial litigation and dispute resolution with a focus on large, complex multi-party claims.  She has a wide range of experience including in construction (leaky building) litigation; negligence, Fair Trading Act and misrepresentation claims; representative (class) actions; contractual, property and commercial disputes; insolvency and debt collection; and estate disputes.   

She has appeared in the Weathertight Homes Tribunal and the District and High Courts, as well as assisting as junior counsel in mediations, judicial settlement conferences and defended hearings in the Weathertight Homes Tribunal and High Court.

Amy is an active member of the NZLS Wellington branch women in law committee and a member of the Wellington Women Lawyers’ Association. Outside work, she performs regularly in improv shows and enjoys spending time with her young family.

Amy's recent highlights include:

  • Appearing as junior counsel in Body Corporate 90247 v Wellington City Council [2014] NZHC 295. We acted for the plaintiffs, the Body Corporate and owners of four townhouses in a leaky building claim against the Wellington City Council. Our clients were awarded more than $1.9 million plus costs against the Council due to its negligence in inspecting and certifying their properties.
  • Appearing as junior counsel in Body Corporate 85978 v Wellington City Council & Anor [2013] NZHC 2852, a successful appeal from a decision of the Weathertight Homes Tribunal restoring a number of units to a large multi-unit leaky building claim.
  • Providing advice in relation to a testamentary promises/family protection claim.
  • Debt recovery actions, including obtaining judgment against debtors and instituting insolvency proceedings, including bankruptcy and liquidation proceedings.
